⭐️ Is It Worth It To Shoot For The Stars? | Pulse Of The Nation

Volume 19

As kids, we all have big dreams. Parker wanted to be a professional athlete. I wanted to be a chef/sports commentator/SpyKid. At the time, it seamed reasonable. Why not? Our parents always taught us to shoot for the stars.

However, as we get older, those big dreams crash down to reality. We hear people tell us to “be reasonable” and ask, how we plan to make a career with that degree. Shooting for the stars quickly turns into something a bit more conservative.

When thinking about shooting for the stars, I can’t help but take a moment to be inspired by friend of the podcast, Jalen Brunson, starting point guard for the New York Knicks. His whole life, Jalen was an underdog. Folks labeled him as too short, too slow, simply not good enough.

Jalen had a hidden talent though. He didn’t just shoot for the stars. He shot at them, and then got to work. Yearly, Jalen would create goals and affirmations. And everyday, he would look at those taped to his bedroom door.

This inspired his magic work ethic and his relentless pursuit to achieve those stars, even as they got higher and higher. As I think about the phrase Shoot for the Stars, I think we should tweak it as I’ve been influenced by watching Jalen’s success. Instead, I think we should say, “Shoot for the stars, and get to work.”
