Dream On? đź’ | Pulse Of The Nation

Volume 18

This past month, I spent a lot of time thinking about my dreams. What were they? Were they achievable? Did I see a path to get there? Am I already on my way or do I need to pivot? Am I happy? Will I be happy?

Those last two questions really hit home for me. In my day to day, I plan, manage, lead and execute projects. There are clear goals and tasks that I knock out. And at the end of it, we finish the project. (Consulting is cool I promise). But that’s the thing, these clear steps lead to an end goal that you can achieve. The finishing of the project equates to “happiness”. My dreams, aren’t as clear cut.

We’ve been told contradictions our entire lives. Follow Your Dreams. Reach for the stars. But make sure you have a job to make actual money.

What we actually need to ask ourselves is, why do we have that dream and will it actually make us happy? Odds are, there is something else we are battling that can help us live and be happy now. I’d rather spend time figuring out how to achieve the most amount of happiness in my current day to day life then thinking that achieving my dreams will fully satisfy my appetite for happiness.

Elevator no. 7, Peter Fusilero, player development coach for the Washington Wizards NBA basketball team has been having an incredible season. In his second year in the league, Peter continues to make an impact on his players, staff and the local DC community.

As he continues to blaze trails in the NBA as one the few Filipino-American coaches (reply to this newsletter if you know the current Filipino-American head coach) we can’t help but remember Elevator no. 7’s episode a few year ago, pre-NBA.
